Microsoft Reportedly Creating New Phone With New Software

Microsoft is developing a new smartphone that'll run new software, reports Thurott. The device is being tested internally and it uses a fully "separate branch" of Windows Phone. Microsoft appears to be trying to see if it can finally
stake out a spot in the handset market.
With the new software, the phone comes with "new experiences" and its interface is "different than what we know today." Because of the changes made to the operating system, certain older Windows Mobile apps may not work.
Thurott reports Microsoft could be under a year away from releasing the device.
However, it has also developed other handsets that never saw the light of day.
