Audi Gets The First Automated Driving License In New York

The first autonomous vehicle testing license in New York has gone to Audi, which hopes to deliver a self-driving car by 2020. Its application to test its technology in New York was recently approved, giving it an SAE Level 3 license.

SAE Level 3 covers automated highway driving under certain conditions.
Two trained engineers must always be in the car, including one person in the driver's seat. As per New York state rules, the engineers must carefully monitor the car's activity to avoid accidents.
Audi has gone through "thousands of miles" of testing without any accidents.
It's received a license only a month after Governor Andrew Cuomo announced license applications would be reviewed.
