Madison Coe, a 14-year-old girl, was declared dead after she got electrocuted in her bathtub at her father’s home in Lovington after she grabbed her smartphone that was plugged in and charging. However, the police department is yet to declare the
actual cause of her death.
We all know that water and electronic items are arch enemies and it’s advised not to touch devices with wet hands or without proper insulation from the ground. But, in an unfortunate series of events, reported by KCBD, a 14-year-old girl from Lubbock, named Madison Coe, got electrocuted and lost her life while charging her smartphone when she was in the bathtub.
Either she was connecting the smartphone to the charger, or it was already connected when she grabbed it, according to her family.
“There was a burn mark on her hand, the hand that would have grabbed the phone. And that was just very obvious that that’s what had happened,” said her grandmother Donna O’Guinn.
The incident was reported to the police on July 9 (12:24 am local time) at her dad’s house in Lovington, New Mexico. The police department is yet to arrive at the actual cause of her death.
“While initial evidence shows signs consistent with that of electrocution, no cause of death will be announced pending the conclusion of an investigation by the Lovington Police Department and determination of the cause and manner of death by the Office of the Medical Investigator,” a press release said.

Please refrain yourself from doing such things

The family is devasted by the sudden death of her daughter who has graduated from her 8th and was in the process of moving to a new school in Houston. However, they are determined to raise awareness about using electronic devices in the bathroom so that any other person doesn’t face the same fate as Madison.
We know that smartphones these days like an extra organ for most of the people. But, it’s recommended to distance yourself from your phone while it’s plugged into a power source, not only in the bathroom but elsewhere too.
