Intel Has Confirmed The Upcoming Post 8th-Generation Ice Lake Processors

Intel’s first (and delayed) 10nm Cannon Lake chips will arrive in late 2017 or sometime in 2018. The chipmaking giant has promised that when Cannon Lake CPUs will be launched, they’ll be a generation ahead of rivals like Samsung. In the most recent development, the
company has shared the details of the next iteration, i.e., chips based on 10nm+ or iterated 10nm architecture.
As reported by AnandTech, Intel has published the basic information on the next generation Ice Lake architecture on Intel’s codename decoder, confirming the existence of this upcoming 10nm+ processors.
Intel’s description states that the Ice Lake processors are a successor to the 8th generation Intel Core processor family, which is scheduled to make a debut in upcoming weeks. “These processors utilize Intel’s industry-leading 10 nm+ process technology,” Intel adds.
This reveal made by Intel is surprising given the fact that the company hasn’t yet announced the full details of Cannon Lake.
If you’re aware of Intel’s lithographic nomenclature, you must be knowing that Intel has three processes on 14nm, i.e., 14, 14+, 14++. It’ll be followed by three 10nm processes, i.e., 10, 10+, 10++. If we decide desktop and laptop, things get a little confusing. You can read about this diversion in detail on AnandTech.
At this moment, there isn’t any more information available. The release date of Intel Ice Lake could be late 2018 or 2019 as Cannon Lake is expected to arrive in 2018.
